Well, this was fun.

I’ve been sitting on the hellozombie.com domain for years. Over the course of a couple short sessions across two days, I landed on a concept I liked and shipped a complete, playable version using Claude Code.

Hello Zombie is a simple dodge-and-collect game. You run through a crowd of zombies, trying to survive as many seconds as you can without touching one, while grabbing mystery boxes along the way. When your run ends, the boxes open and reveal what you collected.

The twist is what’s inside: each box maps to content from my other sites (bands, toy brands, apps, breweries, beer spots, books/movies, etc.). At the start of the game you choose which categories you care about, and the game dynamically pulls from those sets and randomizes the results for each run. If you’re curious, you can click through to the corresponding page. If not, it’s just a ridiculous little reward screen.

This project is also a handy forcing function. A few of the connected sites have solid ideas behind them, but the execution hasn’t always been top notch. Now that Hello Zombie is live and exposing my best and worst together, I’ve got an excuse to go improve the rest of the ecosystem so the things you “discover” are actually worth discovering.
